Check your ISP's status page
Visit your ISP's website on your phone (using mobile data). Shaw/Rogers, Telus, and Bell all have outage maps. If there's a regional outage, the only fix is waiting.
Look at the router/firewall lights
If the internet light is off or red, the ISP connection is down. If all lights are normal but nothing works, it may be a configuration issue. Take a photo of the lights.
Try a basic restart (router only)
Unplug the ISP modem/router for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Wait 2-3 minutes for it to reconnect. Don't restart the firewall or switches unless instructed.
